Living in an October World

Living in an October World

"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers".

Oh Anne, I agree.

Anne of Green Gables truly speaks to my heart with her love of October. Orange, yellow and red rule the colour palate and it is “Sweater Weather”. Add in a pumpkin pie and my family gathered around the table and I am officially sold on the splendor of October.

Even though it is a short season, fall décor is so worth the time. I don’t think enough of us decorate for fall. We wait until November 1st hits and put up the Christmas tree. Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE Christmas (red buffalo plaid is my fave).  However, I think we miss out on fall decor and forget to celebrate one of the prettiest seasons ever.

In honour of October, let me share with a few simple ideas to quickly and easily add a little bit of the glory of fall into your home.

Fall Floral

Switching out for the seasons doesn't have to be complicated or hard. Just add some fall floral accents to your space and you've got an instant fall feeling. A few well placed florals and you're done.

If you want to add a bit of whimsy to your decor - add a gnome. I have really fallen in love with gnomes this season (any season really) - they always bring a smile to my face!

Pumpkins! I love pumpkins and my boys love carving them! Their carved creations will decorate my front step but these new plaid and knitted ones are destined for my kitchen hutch and my mantel! They are so cute! The stems are made of resin and look realistic!

Beaded Garlands

One last easy trick is to add a Garland to your coffee table, your dining table or your mantel. It's a simple and subtle splash of colour. It also makes your own decor look fall ready.

We have all of this in stock on the Seasonal Fall and lots more – just follow the links. It’s easy to add some October coziness to your home! If you have any questions – you can reach us at 403-265-6656 or quiltedcabin@shaw.ca

In the meantime I hope you have a chance to go for a walk in the woods and enjoy our October world.

Until next time,
